Why are we having the 9 year olds playing separately this year?
The step from AA to AAA is not a small step.Players go from 3 innings kid pitch to 6 innings kid pitch. The catcher position becomes the most important position.Players begin to run bases with a purpose.Baseball skills continue to vary at this age and it is important that the player gets a chance to develop with his/her peers the skills that are required as players begin to play “real” baseball.
Other towns have similar set ups and have performed better in All Star baseball because the players have greater experience playing multiple positions vs. only playing right field for 3 innings.Player development happens at a more balanced and possibly faster pace.
The 9 year old age group is one of our largest age brackets in the league. Each year this group tends to have the greatest number of players.Allowing this group to develop together will help them compete for summer baseball positions and following year try outs.
How can I Manage a team?
Email Bill Harris Director of the AAA 9 year old league.
How will the league be different than AA?
Full 6 innings Kid Pitch
Stealing on strikes
Pitcher and catcher development becomes really important
Backing up and knowing what to do in given situations is taught
Teams are comprised of drafted players (moving away from school based teams)
Practices are critical and should be considered mandatory
How is age calculated
For baseball, a player’s age is their age as of April 30th of the year of play. For Softball, it's their age as of December 31st the previous year. Use the Age Calculator to determine your child's baseball or softball age. Here are some examples, assuming the season begins on April 20th in any given year:

Can my Son/Daughter play in the 9 year old league if they are not 9?
This is a popular topic. The age range for this league is if you were born between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2001 you are eligible to play in the 2010 season.
Each year we will look to make this year the best league possible. The ideal league will be made of 10 12 person teams broken into 2 leagues American and National. The league can be balanced by the number of 9 year old players.
If there are more 9 year olds than 120, more teams will be made.If there is a need for additional players to round out teams, some 8 year olds that turn 9 outside of the cut off date will fill roster slots in the 9 year old league. This will be based purely on the registration numbers and on a case by case basis.
